Planning a trip to Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, often called Vizag, combines a working coastal city with beaches and hill viewpoints. It deserves its own city itinerary even if you are also travelling to Araku. Avoid using the same day for a long hill excursion and a full list of city attractions.
What to see
The RK Beach area provides a useful starting point for a coastal walk and nearby attractions. Kailasagiri offers a different perspective on the city, while Rushikonda is a separate coastal outing. Museum and viewpoint visits should be selected according to current opening arrangements and the interests of the group.
When to visit
November–February is often comfortable for city and coastal touring. Check coastal weather alerts in rainy and cyclone-prone periods.
A suggested itinerary
Use the first afternoon for one waterfront area. Set aside the next day for a viewpoint and a chosen museum or beach, with a lunch break between them. Add a separate night if Araku is part of the holiday. Keep departure day close to the city rather than promising a distant last-minute stop.

Plan outdoor walking outside the strongest midday heat. Follow sea warnings and lifeguard instructions. Confirm coach drop-off and parking at busy waterfront locations. If weather alerts affect the coast, replace outdoor stops with currently open indoor alternatives rather than insisting on the original route.
Budget and separate charges
Museum entry, cable-car or other local attraction tickets and activities are separate unless itemised. Ask about parking, waiting and extra distance for beaches outside the agreed city circuit.
